Of course, we met in a place we both love – Brooklyn. I, Abies, was living in Westchester and I couldn't wait to return to the borough that had brought me so much joy and happiness. My family lived there, and countless days and nights were spent with friends in Brooklyn. It made perfect sense that I would meet my husband there as well. Similarly, he loved Brooklyn, resided there, and rarely left. We shared an eclectic group of friends who also shared our love for nature, the arts, and adventure. Our romance began as an adventure. Even though I had met him before in passing, I don't think he noticed me much. Nonetheless, I recall thinking he was a decent fella. He finally took notice after I cut my hair ( I guess it 's true what they say after you cut your hair ladies!!!). He saw beauty in me when I couldn't see it myself. His attention captured mine, and our first date was in a group setting. Initially, I thought of him as a potential good friend and didn't dwell too much on it. He later took me out for lunch, and from that moment on, it felt like we never ran out of things to talk about. Our first date lasted a remarkable 5 hours, marked by an effortless flow of conversation and genuine comfort in each other's presence. Our time spent together seemed to exude a special vibe; we laughed easily and thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. It just felt right , I feel because we share similar characteristics; both kind, considerate, friendly, respectful, and easygoing. Our shared love for hosting gatherings and exploring Brooklyn's comedy, music, and random events further deepened our connection. The rest, as they say, is history...
